Connections Post 3
When we were learning about the various employment laws one question I had that wasn't answered was whether or not there was a law that determined a minimum age for certain positions. I'm fairly certain that there is not a law but that it is most companies policy to only let people over a certain age to do things like run local deliveries. I know that commercial drivers licenses are required to do some things and that there is a minimum age for that but I'm not sure if there is a similar regulation for running deliveries locally in a company vehicle.

Joe, there isn't a minimum law for certain positions - unless established by the company because of restrictions, for example Blue Baker has a requirement that all Delivery Drivers be 21, and this is due to coverage on insurance - because delievery drivers drive company owned vehicles.
ReplyDeleteHowever there are Child Labor Laws that restrict childrem under a certain age from working and also limits hours of certain aged children. In the state of Tx. you may not employ a child under the age of 14 and any child under the age of 16 faces work limits.
(**you can obtain the right to employ a child under the age of 14 in special situations, like a child-actor, but there are again, restrictions regarding their work)
